The observatory consists of two platforms:
· Cloud Remote Sensing Platform: Using cloud radar, a microwave radiometer, a Disdrometer, and Doppler lidar, we analyze wind dynamics and the formation processes of clouds and rain.
· Aerosol Remote Sensing Platform: Using multi-wavelength lidar, a ceilometer, and a solar photometer, we record the vertical distribution of particles such as dust, pollution, and smoke particles.
A Major Milestone for Cyprus
We are pleased to announce that, as of January 19, 2026, CARO has been officially accepted into the pan-European research infrastructure ACTRIS-ERIC! CARO is now in Stage 1b of the certification process, ensuring that our data meets the highest European standards for climate modeling and the validation of satellite mission.
