On 21 April 2026, GK and GC CARO members conducted a school visit to the 8th Elementary School K.B’ in Limassol, Cyprus. The activity was organized by the “Researchers at Schools” initiative of the Research and Innovation Foundation, in celebration of International Earth Day (22 April).
The visit was attended by five teachers and 72 students aged 10–12 years. During the session, GK delivered a presentation introducing the science of remote sensing and Earth observation from the perspective of a researcher at the Eratosthenes Centre of Excellence. The presentation covered an overview of the Centre, the activities of the Atmosphere Team, and the role of researchers in studying environmental processes. In addition, basic concepts related to the atmosphere and atmospheric pollution were presented in an accessible and engaging manner.
The session concluded with a hands-on demonstration illustrating cloud formation. Using a glass container, hot water, ice, and deodorant spray, students observed the creation of a visible “cloud,” reinforcing the concepts discussed during the presentation through a simple experimental approach.
