The event kicked off with Dr. Rodanthi-Elisavet Mamouri chairing the session “Connecting Atmosphere, Land Use and Solar Dynamics for Climate-Resilient Landscapes”. The session was co-organised by ATARRI. Held in Paphos from April 27–29, 2026, the conference served as a vital platform for our team to showcase cutting-edge research in remote sensing and atmospheric science.
Our members delivered a series of impactful presentations, highlighting the project’s leadership in satellite validation and climate research:
Oral Presentations:
- Konstantinos Chrysostomou: “High-Resolution Validation of MONARCH Dust forecasts during strong dust episodes: Leveraging EarthCARE ATLID and CARO NF measurements”
- Aspasia Pallikaridou: “Evaluating EarthCARE’s MSI and ATLID Aerosol Products Against Ground-Based Sunphotometer and Lidar Observations”
- Athina Savva: “Layer-Resolved Retrieval of 3-Mode Aerosol Optical and Microphysical Properties Using GRASP Lidar-Photometer synergy in Limassol, Cyprus”
- Maria Poutli: “Wildfire smoke cases detected by the PollyXT Lidar at the CARO Limassol station: EarthCARE capabilities for detecting Smoke”
Poster Presentations:
- Dr. George Kotsias: “Cloud Vertical Structure and Regimes from EarthCARE CPR over the Eastern Mediterranean”
- Dr. Rodanthi-Elisavet Mamouri (on behalf of Georgia Charalampous): “Estimating Diffuse Fraction under Dust Conditions in Cyprus”
- Dr. Efthymios Georgiou: “Development of a Solar Cadastre Application for Rooftop Photovoltaic Potential Assessment and Optimal System Sizing”
Special Congratulations to our Award Winners:
- Dr. Efthymios Georgiou – 1st Poster Award
- Konstantinos Chrysostomou – 3rd Oral Presentation Award
This participation was incredibly significant, as it solidified the ATARRI project’s role as a regional leader in atmospheric research and satellite validation. By leading dedicated scientific sessions and engaging with the regional and international community, we continue to strengthen the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence’s reputation as a strategic hub for innovation and climate-resilient research in the Eastern Mediterranean.
