On October 9, 2026, ATARRI hosted an expert webinar with Dr. Kelly Voudouri, Postdoctoral Researcher at the National Observatory of Athens and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. Her talk was titled “Active remote sensing of aerosols and clouds: insights from long-term observations in Southern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean.”
Dr. Voudouri drew on long-term lidar observations to cover a range of topics:
- the complementary roles of ground-based and space-based observations
- the geometric characteristics of clouds over the Eastern Mediterranean
- aerosol typing algorithms developed within EARLINET
- comparisons with observations from the EarthCARE satellite mission
- retrievals of aerosol layer height
- first insights from the CoSENSE campaign
An interactive Q&A session with the audience followed the presentation.
