As part of the ATARRI Project’s Knowledge Transfer and Capacity Building Plan, the Physikalisch-Meteorologisches Observatorium Davos / World Radiation Center (PMOD/WRC) conducted the first virtual training session for ATARRI project members on 3 October 2025. The session was led by Dr. Stelios Kazadzis and Dr. Kyriaki Papachristopoulou from PMOD/WRC and represents a significant step toward the project’s objective to strengthen the expertise and enhance the research profile of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence (ECoE). It also contributes to the broader goal of improving ground-based aerosol remote sensing and solar measurement capabilities, and advancing satellite validation activities within the ATARRI network.
During this inaugural virtual training: Participants were introduced to the ATARRI project activities and the individual research projects planned by each member. The trainers shared valuable knowledge on satellite data, highlighting key datasets relevant to aerosol and solar radiation research. Practical guidance was provided on how to access and download satellite data for research and validation purposes.
This first virtual training laid a strong foundation for continued collaboration, knowledge sharing, and skill development across the ATARRI consortium. It reflects the commitment of all partners to capacity building, scientific excellence, and strategic networking in support of atmospheric and remote sensing research.
