Secondment to TROPOS by ATARRI member Maria Poutli| 16 March 2026

PhD student Maria Poutli has kicked off her secondment at the Leibniz Institute for Tropospheric Research (TROPOS) in Leipzig, Germany, on 16 March 2026!

During her stay, she is diving deep into research topics closely tied to her doctoral work, from discussions on EarthCARE products and data filtering approaches to advanced EarthCARE data visualization tools and methods for identifying aerosol layers in the atmosphere.

On 20 March 2026, she shared her insights in a presentation titled “How does smoke influence the climate?” with TROPOS researchers. Her talk explored how smoke’s optical properties vary with source and transport time, sparking lively discussions and valuable feedback that will help shape her ongoing research.
This secondment offers a great opportunity to collaborate internationally and bring fresh perspectives to her PhD work.
