CARO| Solar station – presented by PhD student Georgia Charalampous
Georgia Charalambous, researcher from the Energy Cluster of the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, featured in the #Science4EU campaign of the European Commission. The daily work of Georgia Charalampous is presented in this video. It showcases part of the Limassol Solar Station of ERATOSTHENES CoE, which belongs to the Cyprus Solar Network (CSN) and consists of five stations across Cyprus. The video highlights the operation and routine maintenance of the station, including instrument calibration, cleaning procedures, and solar tracker inspections, as well as the collection and analysis of high-quality solar and UV radiation data used in energy and climate studies.

Meet the Cyprus Atmospheric Remote Sensing Observatory (CARO) at the ERATOSTHENES Centre of Excellence, through the eyes of the CARO researchers!
As an ACTRIS -National Facility, CARO provides high-quality, continuous atmospheric observations right in the heart of Limassol, Cyprus.
Its state-of-the-art instruments—lidar, cloud radar, and microwave radiometer—support advanced research in air quality, weather forecasting, and climate monitoring.
CARO is at the forefront of European and global atmospheric science, contributing vital data to initiatives like ACTRIS, Copernicus ECMWF-CAMS, and European Space Agency – ESA satellite missions, strengthening both research and societal resilience.
